In May of 2008, Charles' three month old daughter was diagnosed with Children's Cardiomyopathy. In August 2008, at the age of six months old she received a heart transplant. Without the transplant, she had little hope of reaching her first birthday.

There are over 90,000 Americans currently listed on the national transplant waiting list. They will die if lifesaving organs do not become available to them. More than 7,000 Americans in need of organs die every year only for lack of lifesaving organs.
