Tillman Spreads Cheer with Holiday Celebration
December 14th, 2010

On Tuesday, December 7th, Charles Tillman, cornerback for the Chicago Bears, and his Cornerstone Foundation spread some holiday cheer for chronically and critically ill children and their families during the 2010 “Holiday Celebration”, hosted at Comer Children’s Hospital at the University of Chicago.

“Holiday Celebration” is a signature program of The Charles Tillman Cornerstone Foundation.  Each December, Charles, his wife Jackie and a few of Santa’s elves visit Chicago-area hospitals to pass out gifts, visit with families and partake in hospital activities to help spread holiday cheer.

“Since patients are unable to leave the hospital at this time, I want to bring holiday cheer to them and their families,” Tillman stated.  “With the help from our friends at Nike, Build-A-Bear and a few of Santa’s elves, we were able to make this happen.”

During the 2010 “Holiday Celebration”, children at Comer Children’s Hospital at the University of Chicago were treated to a game of bingo in the Thrall Family Playroom.  Patients and their siblings were invited to partake in the game as Tillman called off items and entertained the crowd.  Live video of Tillman and the activity in the Thrall Family Playroom was streamed throughout the hospital to each patient’s television, so children unable to leave their rooms were able to play the game as well!

Tillman followed up with bedside visits where he met young patients and their families, handing out gifts which included Nike duffle bags, Signature Series Bears Footballs and Chicago Bears themed “Build-A-Bear” stuffed animals.
