2nd Annual TendHER Heart Luncheon Celebrates "Mom's Enduring Love"
August 3rd, 2010

On Sunday, July 18th, Chicago Bears cornerback Charles Tillman and his Cornerstone Foundation honored mothers of chronically and critically ill children in the Chicago area by creating an afternoon of relaxation, support and heartfelt thanks.  The 2nd Annual TendHER Heart Luncheon, presented by the Omni Chicago Hotel, brought nearly 100 mothers together to celebrate “Mom’s Enduring Love”.

“We’re here to show mothers that all of their hard work and dedication is appreciated,” Tillman stated.  “Usually, as parents with ill children, you’re so concerned with your child that you don’t take any time for yourself.  Today, we give these mothers a few hours to enjoy the afternoon together and see the amount of support they have around them.”

The annual TendHER Heart Luncheon is designed to allow mothers to step away from their roles as caregivers and appreciate the community of support they have with each other.  From 11:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., attendees were treated to a delicious brunch and drinks, provided by the Omni Chicago Hotel, as Charles addressed the room and expressed his gratitude and support for the sacrifices that each mother makes on a daily basis.  Each attendee left the event with gifts from the Charles Tillman Cornerstone Foundation, including a tote bag, beauty products and a unique handmade necklace.

"I had a great time and was able to connect with other mothers who had children in similar situations as my son," one mother stated.  "It was great to be able to talk with mom's who understand what my family has gone through and who have been through similar things as well.  I made life-long friends today!"

The majority of mothers who were selected to attend the TendHER Heart Luncheon have children who are patients at Children’s Memorial Hospital, Comer Children’s Hospital at the University of Chicago and Ronald McDonald Loyola Hospital.

The Mission of the Charles Tillman Cornerstone Foundation is to provide opportunities and resources to children or their families who are in need.  Since 2005, Charles Tillman's charitable efforts have impacted the lives of over one million Chicago-area children.
