February 28th, 2011

Charles Tillman received Fifth Third Bank’s “2011 Community Leadership Award” in a ceremony held at the DuSable Museum of African-American History on Wednesday, Feb. 23. Charles was one of three honorees chosen for this prestigious award. Other honorees included Earl Jones, President, Clear Channel Radio (and a former NFL cornerback) and the late Dr. Margaret T. Burroughs, founder of The DuSable Museum of African-American History. All three honorees were recognized for their leadership and efforts that have provided meaningful impact in communities of color. In addition to receiving a beautiful crystal award, it was announced that Fifth Third Bank has established a scholarship in the amount of $5300 in Charles’ name that will be given to a deserving high school senior later in the year. “On behalf of Charles Tillman and everyone associated with the Charles Tillman Cornersone Foundation we proudly accept this honor,” said Tim Hannahs, Cornerstone Foundation board member. “The scholarship is something that we are very proud of and we look forward to presenting this to Charles in the coming months and working with him to select the scholarship recipient.”
