CHICAGO – Chicago Bears’ Pro Bowl cornerback and 2013 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year, Charles Tillman, and his wife, Jackie, hosted the Holiday Celebration of the Charles Tillman Cornerstone Foundation at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago on Tuesday.
Each December, Charles, Jackie, and a few of Santa’s elves host the Holiday Celebration to help spread holiday cheer on behalf of the Charles Tillman Cornerstone Foundation.
“This is what the season is all about – spreading a little cheer to families that just really need a reason to smile,” said Tillman. “This is fun for me. I’m happy to do it.”
The Tillmans kicked off the holiday season with the Willis Tower Tree-Lighting last Tuesday, which also launched its employee toy drive that will run through December 18th.
The donated toys will later be gifted to patients and families of Lurie Children’s and other local hospitals.
Meanwhile, the Tillmans visited with and provided autographed Chicago Bears footballs for the patients and families of Lurie Children’s on Tuesday.
“Many of our patients have complex medical needs and the holidays can be an extremely difficult time for them,” said Susan Ruohonen, Director of Children’s Services. “We are very thankful for all that Charles Tillman and his foundation have done for our hospital, and I know for some of our patients, a visit from a Chicago Bear is more exciting than a visit from Santa.”
